I travel quite a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner all alone in cafes. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in MILLIKEN CO where I ate at Joey's Taco Factory and I read a really interesting piece to do with bamboo clothes. I did not realise you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a great possibility for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.

I have to tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After a bit more research I discovered some other amazing facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
