I travel a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner alone in cafes. I often take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in MIAMI FL where I ate at Honduras Maya Restaurant II and I read a really interesting article to do with bamboo. I did not realise you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a great choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.
I should tell you I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found some more interesting details on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs very little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
