I travel quite a lot for my job and so often end up having dinner alone in cafes. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in MIAMI FL where I ate at Metro Latin American Cafeteria and I read an interesting piece to do with bamboo. I did not realise you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a good possibility for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and got some items of clothing.
I must admit I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was amazing. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some interesting pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
