I move around a lot for my work and so regularly end up eating alone in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in MERIDIAN ID where I ate at Corona Village and I read a really interesting piece on bamboo. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a excellent option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and bought a few basic items of clothing.

I should admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I think is great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After some more research I discovered some other incredible details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
