I move around a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner by myself in cafes. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in MENOMINEE MI where I ate at Chang's Gardens and I read an interesting piece about bamboo. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a excellent possibility for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and got a few pieces of clothing.
I have to admit I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be amazing. I also noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found some other incredible pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
