I travel quite a lot for my studies and so often end up having my dinner alone in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in MEMPHIS TN where I ate at Lajewell's Deli and I came across a new cover story on bamboo. I did not realise you could make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a great possibility for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I went online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.

I have to say I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic clothing stores where you can get organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.

After some more research I found out some more interesting facts about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.

You can find some information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
