I travel a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having dinner by myself in cafes. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in MCMINNVILLE OR where I ate at Geraldis the Italian Eating Place and I came across a new cover story on bamboo. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and bought a few basic items of clothing.
I have to say I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic clothes stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.
After a bit more research I found some other amazing pieces of information on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
