I travel quite a lot for my job and so regularly end up having my dinner alone in cafes. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in MADISON WI where I ate at AMER Lunch Inc and I saw a really interesting cover story about bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a excellent choice for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and got some basic items of clothing.
I must admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I took it from the washing machine which I found to be amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothing stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.
After a little more research I found out some other amazing facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
