I travel a lot for my studies and so often end up eating all alone in cafes. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in MADERA CA where I ate at Romeos Pizza and Sandwich Shop and I came across an interesting piece on bamboo clothes. I had no idea you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a good option for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and bought a couple items of clothing.
I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothing stores where you can get organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a bit more research I discovered some other amazing pieces of information about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
