I move around a lot for my job and so usually end up having my dinner alone in local restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in MACON GA where I ate at Julia's Kitchen and I saw an interesting piece about bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a excellent option for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and bought some pieces of clothing.
I have to say I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothes stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a little more research I found some other interesting pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
