I move around a lot for my studies and so often end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in LUFKIN TX where I ate at Jason's Deli and I read a really interesting piece on bamboo clothing. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a great option for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and got a couple items of clothing.

I must say I was very impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After some more research I discovered some more incredible details about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
