I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating alone in local restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in LORAINE TX where I ate at Creemee Cafe and I read an interesting piece on bamboo. I did not realise you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a great option for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry after I took it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found out some other interesting pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
