I travel a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having my dinner alone in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in LONG BEACH CA where I ate at Chelsea on the Queen Mary and I read a new cover story about bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a great choice for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I went online and bought a few basic items of clothing.
I should tell you I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
Find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothing stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.
After a bit more research I discovered some other amazing details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
