I travel a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner all alone in cafes. I often take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in LIVONIA MI where I ate at Wendy Old Fashion Hamburgers and I came across a really interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothes. I had no idea you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a excellent choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to admit I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found out some other amazing details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
