I move around a lot for my studies and so often end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Recently, I was in LINCOLN NE where I ate at Airport Inn-Motel-Restaurant & Lounge and I read an interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothing. I did not know you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good possibility for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I went online and got a few basic items of clothing.
I should admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found some interesting pieces of information about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
