I move around a lot for my studies and so usually end up eating all alone in cafes. I often take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in LIBBY MT where I ate at Hidden Chapel Restaurant and I saw an interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothing. I did not know you can make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good option for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased a couple items of clothing.

I must admit I was pretty impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was great. I also noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After some more research I found some interesting details to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
