I travel quite a lot for my job and so usually end up eating by myself in restaurants. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in LEXINGTON VA where I ate at Spankys Restaurant and Delicatessen and I came across an interesting piece on bamboo clothes. I did not know you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a great option for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.
I must say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothes stores where you can get organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.
After a bit more research I found some amazing facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires very little water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
