I move around a lot for my work and so usually end up eating alone in restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in LAWRENCE KS where I ate at Casablanca Cafe and I came across an interesting cover story on bamboo clothing. I had no idea you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a great option for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and purchased a couple items of clothing.
I should tell you I was extremely impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is incredible. I also noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found out some more amazing pieces of information about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
