I travel quite a lot for my studies and so often end up having my dinner all alone in local restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in LAURENS SC where I ate at Gooney Birds Sports Grill and I came across an interesting cover story on bamboo clothing. I had no idea you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a excellent choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and got a couple pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was very impressed. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found out some amazing details to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs very little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
