I travel quite a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating alone in cafes. I usually take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in LANDER WY where I ate at Big NOI Restaurant and I read an interesting piece to do with bamboo clothing. I did not know you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a excellent possibility for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and bought a few pieces of clothing.
I have to admit I was pretty impressed. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I took it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found some other incredible pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs very little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
