I travel quite a lot for my job and so usually end up having my dinner alone in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in LANCASTER PA where I ate at Berger's On Cabbage Hill and I saw an interesting cover story on bamboo. I did not know you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a excellent possibility for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and got some pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After some more research I found some more incredible facts about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo needs very little water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
