I travel a lot for my studies and so usually end up eating by myself in cafes. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in LAKELAND FL where I ate at Central Florida Soul Food Cuisine Inc and I came across an interesting piece about bamboo clothes. I had no idea you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a good choice for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought a few basic items of clothing.

I must say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was amazing. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a bit more research I found out some incredible details on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
