I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating by myself in cafes. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in LAFAYETTE LA where I ate at K & I Grocery and I came across an interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothes. I had no idea you could make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a great choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and got a couple pieces of clothing.

I must say I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After a little more research I found some more interesting facts to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.

I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
