I travel quite a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner by myself in local restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in KATY TX where I ate at 510 Bar & Grill and I read a really interesting piece to do with bamboo clothing. I did not know you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good possibility for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I found to be amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I found some more amazing pieces of information on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
