I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up eating alone in restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in JAMESTOWN MI where I ate at Candlelight Cakes and I came across an interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothes. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a good possibility for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and got some pieces of clothing.

I have to tell you I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry when I took it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After a little more research I discovered some interesting details on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.

You can find some details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
