I travel a lot for my work and so regularly end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in JAMAICA NY where I ate at Refreshers 2 and I saw a really interesting article about bamboo clothes. I had no idea you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a great possibility for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and purchased some basic items of clothing.

I must admit I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After some more research I discovered some interesting facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find some details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
