I move around a lot for my studies and so often end up having my dinner all alone in cafes. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in JACKSON TN where I ate at Barley's Brewhouse & Eatery and I saw a new piece on bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a great possibility for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased a few pieces of clothing.
I must say I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I found out some other interesting facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires very little water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
