I move around a lot for my work and so usually end up eating all alone in cafes. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in HOUSTON TX where I ate at Chow's Cafe and I came across a new piece to do with bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good option for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased a few pieces of clothing.
I have to tell you I was extremely impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I think is amazing. I also noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I found out some more interesting pieces of information about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires very little water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
