I move around a lot for my studies and so usually end up eating alone in local restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in HOUSTON TX where I ate at Fresh One Deli and I came across a really interesting cover story about bamboo clothing. I did not know you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a great choice for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and got some pieces of clothing.
I have to admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
Check out the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothing stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a little more research I discovered some incredible facts to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
