I move around a lot for my studies and so usually end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in HILO HI where I ate at L & L Drive Inn and I saw a really interesting cover story about bamboo clothing. I had no idea you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a good option for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and bought some items of clothing.
I must tell you I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I think is amazing. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
After a bit more research I found out some more amazing pieces of information on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
