I move around a lot for my work and so often end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in HILO HI where I ate at Tsunami Grill & Tempura and I came across a really interesting article about bamboo clothing. I had no idea you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a good option for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and got a couple items of clothing.

I have to admit I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a bit more research I found some more interesting pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.

You can find some information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
