I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating alone in cafes. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in HILLSBORO OR where I ate at Burgerville USA - No 35 and I saw an interesting article about bamboo clothing. I did not know you can make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a good choice for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.

I should admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.

After a little more research I found out some amazing pieces of information about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo needs little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find some information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
