I travel a lot for my job and so regularly end up having my dinner alone in cafes. I often take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in HAYDEN ID where I ate at Paupau's Kitchen and I came across a really interesting cover story to do with bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good option for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought a few basic items of clothing.

I have to tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a little more research I discovered some more amazing pieces of information about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
