I travel quite a lot for my studies and so often end up having dinner alone in cafes. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in HARDY AR where I ate at Price Chopper Foods - Pizza Professional and I came across a new cover story on bamboo clothes. I did not know you can make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a great option for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and got some basic items of clothing.

I should tell you I was pretty impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry when I took it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic apparel stores where you can get organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.

After a little more research I discovered some other interesting facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo needs very little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.

I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
