I travel a lot for my job and so often end up having dinner by myself in local restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in GREER SC where I ate at Medeterannia Espresso Cafe and I saw a really interesting cover story about bamboo clothes. I did not know you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a excellent possibility for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.

I should tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic apparel stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.

After a little more research I discovered some amazing facts on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
