I travel quite a lot for my job and so often end up having dinner by myself in local restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in GREENSBORO NC where I ate at Hatties Kitchen and I saw a really interesting piece on bamboo clothes. I did not know you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a good option for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and bought some basic items of clothing.
I must admit I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
After a bit more research I found out some other interesting details about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
