I move around a lot for my work and so regularly end up having dinner by myself in cafes. I usually take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in GREENBRAE CA where I ate at Woodlands Market and I read an interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothing. I did not realise you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a great option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and got some pieces of clothing.
I must tell you I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
After some more research I found out some more incredible details to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
