I move around a lot for my work and so often end up eating all alone in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in GOLETA CA where I ate at Saffron Cafeteria and I came across an interesting article about bamboo. I had no idea you could make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a great possibility for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and got a few items of clothing.

I must say I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.

After a bit more research I discovered some interesting facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
