I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner alone in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in GLENVIEW IL where I ate at Matty's Wayside Inn and I saw an interesting article on bamboo clothing. I did not realise you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a great choice for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and bought some pieces of clothing.
I must admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be amazing. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After some more research I discovered some incredible facts on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
