I move around a lot for my job and so regularly end up having dinner alone in cafes. I often take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in GLEN ELLYN IL where I ate at Vitorios Ristorante and I came across a new cover story to do with bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a good option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and bought a few items of clothing.
I have to admit I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry when I took it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
After a bit more research I found out some more interesting facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
