I move around a lot for my work and so often end up having my dinner by myself in restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in GIBSONIA PA where I ate at Pines Tavern & Restaurant and I read a really interesting piece on bamboo clothing. I did not realise you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a excellent choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.

I should say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be great. I also noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After some more research I discovered some amazing pieces of information on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs very little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find some articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
