I travel quite a lot for my job and so regularly end up eating alone in local restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in GASTONIA NC where I ate at Subway TCBY and I saw a really interesting piece to do with bamboo clothes. I did not know you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a great choice for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased a few items of clothing.
I should admit I was extremely impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I found some incredible details to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo needs very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
