I move around a lot for my studies and so usually end up having my dinner by myself in local restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in FORT MADISON IA where I ate at Alphas On the Riverfront and I came across a really interesting cover story on bamboo clothing. I had no idea you could make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a good choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased some items of clothing.

I should tell you I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be great. I also noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After a little more research I found some more amazing facts to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.

I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
