I travel a lot for my work and so usually end up eating all alone in cafes. I often take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in FLORAL PARK NY where I ate at Floral Park Deli & Grocery Inc and I read an interesting article on bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good option for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and bought some pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry when I took it from the washing machine which I think is great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found out some other interesting details on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
