I travel a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner by myself in cafes. I often take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in FENNIMORE WI where I ate at Hickory Grove Public House and I read an interesting cover story to do with bamboo. I did not realise you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a excellent choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and purchased some basic items of clothing.
I have to tell you I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it from the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found some more interesting facts about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo uses little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
