I move around a lot for my work and so often end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in FALLON NV where I ate at Cold Springs Station and I came across a new cover story about bamboo clothes. I did not realise you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a good possibility for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to say I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be amazing. I also noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some other interesting facts to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
