I travel a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner all alone in cafes. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in FAIRBORN OH where I ate at Giovanni's - Pizza & Restaurant and I read a new cover story to do with bamboo. I did not know you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a good choice for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothes stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.
After a little more research I discovered some more interesting facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
