I travel a lot for my studies and so usually end up eating all alone in cafes. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Recently, I was in EUSTIS FL where I ate at China Lane Restaurant and I read a really interesting piece on bamboo clothes. I did not know you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a great option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and purchased a few items of clothing.
I must say I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I found out some other interesting pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
