I travel a lot for my work and so often end up having dinner alone in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in ESTES PARK CO where I ate at Mountaineer Restaurant and I saw a new cover story to do with bamboo clothes. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good choice for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I went online and got a couple items of clothing.
I should tell you I was pretty impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After some more research I found out some more amazing facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs very little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
