I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating alone in cafes. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in EL CENTRO CA where I ate at Fong Restaurant and I read a new article about bamboo. I had no idea you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a great option for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and bought a few pieces of clothing.
I must say I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry when I took it from the washing machine which I found to be great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found some interesting facts on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
